General Dentist Locums in Millinocket, Maine 4-Day Week Near Baxter State Park

Aya Locums

Millinocket, Maine, United States

Job description

Trade the ordinary workweek for four days of dentistry and three days to explore the Maine outdoors.

Aya Locums is seeking an experienced General Dentist for a six-month locum tenens assignment in Millinocket, Maine. The client is actively interviewing and prepared to move quickly with a qualified dentist who can provide dependable, patient-centered care.

Millinocket sits in Maine s scenic Katahdin region and serves as a gateway to Mount Katahdin and Baxter State Park. The surrounding area offers mountains, forests, lakes, rivers, wildlife, and more than 220 miles of trails within Baxter State Park, making this an especially appealing assignment for someone who enjoys hiking, fishing, paddling, photography, or simply getting away from city traffic during a three-day weekend.

Assignment Highlights
  • Monday through Thursday schedule
  • Four 10-hour shifts each week
  • Hours of 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • No call responsibilities
  • Six-month assignment with approximately 104 shifts available
  • Bread-and-butter General Dentistry
  • Hygienist and dental assistant support
  • Approximately 18 to 25 patients per day
  • Maine licensing assistance available
  • Client is interviewing and making decisions quickly
Practice Details

The dentist will join a Federally Qualified Health Center serving a diverse rural community health population, including a high volume of Medicaid patients.

The incoming dentist should be comfortable providing comprehensive, bread-and-butter dental care in a busy clinical environment. This is not a cosmetic-focused practice. The dentist will work alongside an established hygienist and dental assistant and will be responsible for completing their own charting.

Previous experience in an FQHC, community clinic, high-volume Medicaid practice, or similar environment is strongly preferred. Dentists without direct FQHC experience may still be considered if they are comfortable seeing approximately 18 to 25- or more- patients per day and caring for patients from a wide range of backgrounds.

Qualifications
  • DMD or DDS
  • Experienced General Dentist
  • Comfortable with a broad bread-and-butter scope
  • Able to work effectively in a busy community health environment
  • Comfortable completing personal documentation
  • Professional clinical references required
  • Active Maine license preferred, but candidates willing to obtain one are encouraged to apply

A temporary Maine license may be available in approximately two to three weeks once a complete application has been submitted. Facility credentialing is expected to take approximately 30 days.
