Service Setting: Hospital/Outpatient Clinic

Coverage Type: Clinical + Call

Coverage Period: Ongoing

Clinical Shift Schedule: MonThurs, 8a 430p

- 16 Shifts Per Month

On-Call Shift Schedule:

- One Weeknight Call Week

- One Weekend Per Month (Phone Call Only)

Call Type: Phone Call

Call Response Time: Phone Consults Only

PATIENT INFORMATION

Patient Demographics: Adults (18+ Years)

Patient Volume/Census: 1620 Clinic Patients Per Day

Admissions: Hospitalists Admit Patients

Rounding: Inpatient Consults as Needed (Average Census 02)

Phone Consults: Yes

Case Mix: Hematology and Oncology, Including Antineoplastics, Bone Marrow Biopsies, Iron Therapy, IV IgG, and Phlebotomies

FACILITY INFORMATION

No. of Beds in Department: 4 Exam Rooms

EMR System: Epic

Office Equipment Available: Medical Imaging, Lab, and Pharmacy

Specialty Backup Available: Hospitalist Service

Support Staff Available: 2 APPs, 2 Nurses per Provider, Referral/Triage Nurses, Reception, Lab, Social Worker, Dietician

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Active Iowa License or Active IMLC (LOQ Required)

Board Certified in Hematology & Oncology (Oncology BC with Strong Hem/Onc Experience Considered)

Active DEA Required

Fellowship Trained in Hematology & Oncology

Experience: Experienced Preferred; New Graduates Considered

Other Qualifications: NPDB Self-Query Within 30 Days, Clean Malpractice/Background, Availability for Minimum 2 Weeks Per Month

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Evaluate and treat hematology and oncology patients

Perform outpatient consultations and follow-up visits

Oversee administration of chemotherapy and infusion therapies

Perform bone marrow biopsies and related procedures

Collaborate with APPs, nursing staff, hospitalists, and ancillary services
