A Level II Trauma Center in Amarillo Texas is seeking a LocumsTrauma & Acute Care Surgery Physician to provide ongoing coverage in ahigh-volume, well-supported surgical program. Practice Details
The program provides comprehensive trauma and acute care surgeryservices with annual volumes including:
- Approximately 1,618 trauma activations
- Over 1,000 trauma admissions
- Nearly 500 acute care surgery operative cases annually
Coverage includes:
- In-house trauma coverage
- Acute Care Surgery (ACS) coverage
- Backup call coverage as scheduled
- 24Hour shifts including call
- 30-minute callback response time when on backup call
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage trauma and emergency general surgery patients
- Perform operative and non-operative management of traumatic injuries
- Provide acute care surgery consultations and procedures
- Participate in trauma activations and multidisciplinary patient care
- Collaborate with emergency medicine physicians, intensivists, hospitalists, and surgical staff
- Document patient encounters accurately using the facility's electronic medical record
Qualifications
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery
- Fellowship training in Trauma Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, or Acute Care Surgery preferred
- Active Texas medical license or ability to obtain licensure
- Current ATLS certification
- Demonstrated trauma and acute care surgery experience
- Strong clinical decision-making skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
