Take a look!Learn more about this hospital: :Veterinary Technician ResponsibilitiesPatient examinations, auscultation of heart and lung sounds, determine normal/abnormal TPRsProfessional client communication and education obtaining medical histories and symptomsLaboratory procedures including but not limited to: hematology, cytology, urinalysis, microbiology, blood chemistry, and fecalDiagnostic imaging and implementing safety protocols of fellow staff membersSurgical assisting; preparing and maintaining the surgical environment in order to ensure an asepsis environment for both patient and personal safety.Anesthesia monitoring and endotracheal intubationNursing skills including: restraining patients, administering medications PO/IV/SUBQ/IM, placing intravenous catheters, obtaining blood samples, applying and maintaining bandages, providing high quality physical and psychological needs of the patient during any hospitalization stay or visitProficient in dental prophylaxisPharmacy and pharmacology knowledge including: preparing and dispensing medications, calculating dosages, recognizing adverse reactions, knowledge of regulations regarding the safe handling of biohazardous materialsRequired Skills:Veterinary Technician QualificationsMust be licensed as a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or must be proficient with technician skills.Must be able to work independently and as team member.Must enjoy working with both people and animals.Must be able to stand for long periods and lift at least 50 pounds Natural leadership ability is a plus.Working Conditions:Have the physical strength and ability to stand for an entire shift when needed, and be able to lift, push and pull, pets and objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
