Practice Setting: Hospital-based Labor & Delivery coverage
Location: Toledo, OH
Reason for Coverage: Down 2 FTEs with pending maternity leave coverage needs
EMR: EPIC
Trauma Level: Level I Trauma Center / Level IV L&D
Teaching Facility: OB residents onsite and available to first assist
Dates of Coverage:
- July (24-hour call: 8am 8am)
- July 31 August 1 (24-hour call: 8am 8am)
- August 2 3 (24-hour call: 8am 8am)
- August 7 (8am 5pm)
- August 9 10 (24-hour call: 8am 8am)
Facility Details:
- 10 L&D beds
- Onsite lab and ultrasound
- Support staff includes OB residents and nursing staff
- Laborists collaborate with midwives on L&D
Patient Mix:
- Low Risk OB: 20%
- High Risk OB: 80%
- GYN: 10%
- C-Section Rate: 25%
- Nursery Level III
Required OB Procedures:
- Low and high risk pregnancy management
- FHR interpretation (NST/CST/FSE)
- OB ultrasound interpretation
- Level I and Level II OB ultrasounds
- Vaginal deliveries
- C-sections
- Breech and multiple births
- VBACs
- Repair of 3rd & 4th degree lacerations
Required GYN Procedures:
- Ectopic pregnancy management
- Ovary removal
- Cystectomy
- Extensive LOA s
- Tubal ligation
- Diagnostic laparoscopy
- Surgical gynecology procedures
- IUD placement
- Colposcopy
- Cryosurgery
- LEEP procedures
- Cystoscopy
This is a high-acuity OB program with strong resident and nursing support in a teaching hospital environment.
